The Fall 2021 Migration Count has commenced and runs from Sep 20th until Nov 15th with observers at the Mount Lorette site daily — including viewing equipment available to the public. If interested in visiting the site, we suggest that you visit after 3pm. We see the majority of the migrating eagles in the later afternoon. This is the 29th consecutive year of vigilant recording. -22 C at the start, -12 C high

Description of the Day:

Cold! Blue sky all day, with a few light clouds (10% of the sky) 11:00 to 14:00. Wind less than 10 km/h until 13:00, then gusting to 15 - 20 km/h to the end. Snow plumes off the ridges indicated approximately SW winds aloft, light to moderate until 10:00, then increasing to strong by 15:00.

Migrant Golden Eagle Count:

9 (7 adults, 2 unaged)

Migrant Other Raptor Count By Species:

2 adult Bald Eagles

Period with Most Migrants:

13:00 to 14:00 with 1 Bald Eagle and 4 Golden Eagles

Total Migratory Raptors:

11

Non-Migrant Raptors:

None

Other Birds:

1 Belted Kingfisher, 1 Canada Jay, 2 Black-capped Chickadees, 3 Ravens.
