Weather:
The temperature at 9 am was 8C and rose to 2C by 2 pm, where it remained until 5 pm and dropped to 1C by 6:15 pm. Ridge Winds were low and picked up after 4 pm. They swung from NNW in the morning to SW in the afternoon, between 6-24km/h. The sky was cloudless for most of the day, with a few wisps of cirrus developing at intervals.

Raptor Observations:
Once again, the lack of wind made the Eagles’ journey laborious. During the morning, most of the activity took place over Hummingbird Plume and to the west. The first eagle was seen flapping and gliding along the Olympic summit at 10:51. We had an enormous surprise with the appearance of an Osprey, found soaring north of the meadow in the morning and reappearing later in the day. In the afternoon, most of the eagles took the Eastern route, flapping, gliding, and trying to soar low in the face of the mountains. After 5 pm, the winds picked up, and we found 18/33 birds at ridge level in the last hour. The final count was 41 raptors of 3 species, including 33 Golden Eagles (25 adults, 1 subadult, 7 unidentified), 7 Bald Eagles (2 adults, 3 Subadults, 2 Juveniles). 1 Osprey!!!
Non-migrants: 2 adult Goshawks were seen soaring together and sighted hunting individually throughout the day.

Non-raptor Observations:
4 Black-capped Chickadees, 1 Belted Kingfisher, 9 Bohemian Waxwings, 4 Canada Jays, 1 Dark-eyed Junco, 3 female Common Mergansers floating down the river, 2 Pine Grosbeaks, 1 Black-billed Magpie, 3 Mallard Ducks, 1 Duck sp., many Ravens.
