Visitors:
There were 8 visitors that stopped to learn about the count.

Weather:
Ground fog made for an inauspicious start to the day, making everything look gloomy, and the dampness made the +1C temperature feel colder. With no wind, the clouds lifted only gradually, and the ridges didn’t begin to clear until around noon. By the end of the day the temperature had risen to 12C and the clouds dissipated completely. After the sun went behind the west ridge, the temperature dropped, ending at 6C.

Raptor Observations:
Most of the migrants appeared late in the day. The clear skies made locating them a challenge. Few raptors were seen, but there was a bit of variety with 1 adult Bald Eagle, 2 Red-tailed Hawks, 1 Sharp-shinned Hawk, 1 Broad-winged Hawk, and 5 Golden Eagles (2a, 2sa, 1u). The Sharp-shinned Hawk and one Red-tailed Hawk were making their way down the valley and all the others were low over the east ridge.
Non-migrant raptors included 1 juvenile Golden Eagle hunting over the west ridge, 1 adult Golden Eagle also on the west ridge, a Red-tailed Hawk hunting in the meadow, and a Northern Goshawk over the Nakiska ski slopes.

Non-raptor Observations:
The early gloom was ameliorated by the presence of many and various songbirds, including 12 Mountain Bluebirds hunting in the meadow. Besides those there were 6 Common Mergansers, 2 Ruffed Grouse (drumming!), 2 Northern Flickers, 2 Canada Jays, 1 Black-billed Magpie, 6 Common Ravens, 2 Black-capped Chickadees, 1 Mountain Chickadee, 2 Barn Swallows, 2 Ruby-crowned Kinglets, 1 American Dipper, 3 Varied Thrushes, ! American Robin, 2 Pine Siskins, 2 Dark-eyed Juncos, 2 White-crowned Sparrows, 1 White-throated Sparrows, 1 Lincoln’s Sparrow, 6 Yellow-rumped Warblers, 1 Wilson’s Warbler.
