Weather:
The temperature was 6C at the start of the count, the high was 8, and it fell to 5 by the end. The rest of the weather was much less consistent. It was cloudy for most of the day and raining on and off in the afternoon. Sometimes the sun broke through the clouds and warmed up the meadow, and occasionally it was sunny and raining at the same time. Ridges were partially obscured during rain showers. Wind was from the SW, 5-10 km/h gusting around 20 at ground level, and gusting near 50 at ridge level.
Raptor Observations:
All but one of the migrants passed by in two short bursts. One burst was between 11 AM and noon, and the second was after 5 PM. The count was 2 Rough-legged Hawks and 12 Golden Eagles (2a, 2sa, 8u). They were all using the east ridges. Local raptors included a Sharp-shinned Hawk, at least one Golden Eagle, at least one Red-tailed Hawk, and an American Goshawk that was harassing a Red-tail over Hummingbird Plume Hill.
Non-raptor Observations:
1 Ruffed Grouse, 1 Blue Jay, 1 Black-billed Magpie, 12 Common Ravens, 3 Black-capped Chickadees, 2 Boreal Chickadees, 5 Ruby-crowned Kinglets, 7 Golden-crowned Kinglets, 1 American Dipper, 60 American Robins (mostly flying south in the morning), 1 Red Crossbill, 1 Pine Siskin, and 1 Yellow-rumped Warbler.
